WORKING TOGETHER TO ADVANCE SPACE DEVELOPMENT

AGRICULTURE WORKING GROUP (AgWG)

ABOUT:
The Agriculture Working Group (AgWG) seeks to develop a Plan for how a greenhouse and aquaponics could be used in an initial UniHab meeting the nutritional, air-processing, water-processing, and fiber needs of an Initial Crew of eight.

OBJECTIVES:
   - Identify the food plants that can be grown hydroponically.
   - Write up a description of how fish could be fed and grow.
   - Write up a description of how what a hydro/aquaponic greenhouse would be able to support an Initial Crew of eight.

PROJECTS:
   - Develop a table-top demonstrator of the integration of a hydroponic garden growing at least one plan of each major category, a fish tank, algae drapes, and bioreactor.
   - Be able to produce an example meal from the produce grown from the table-top demonstrator.
Ultimately the AWG hopes to take the lessons learned from the demonstrator and with funds raised, create a full-size system to be installed in the UniHab of the Moon-Mars Analogue Base (MMAB).
