INTERNATIONAL LUNAR EXPLORATION PHASE
- with low-cost transport, where would international astronauts go? -

VISITING THE LUNAR LANDER SITES

Apart from the Apollo landers, there are 14 other landers on the surface of the Moon.

Luna: The Soviets landed a total of eight landers. Luna 9 was the first soft landing on the Moon. Luna 23 tipped over while landing which should make that site particularly interesting to visit. Two had the Lunokhod rovers.

Surveyor: The United States landed Surveyor 1 through 7 in its lead-up to the Apollo landings. One lander, Surveyor 3, was the one visited by the Crew of Apollo 12. Surveyor 4 crashed on the final moments of landing so that might be an interesting site to visit.

Chang'e: China landed the Yutu rover on the Moon and is planning on landing another one on the back side of the Moon which would be a first.

Commercial Landers: NASA's CLPS program will likely lead to several commercial landers.
