ACHIEVING SELF-RELIANCE
- how an off-Earth base could quickly become self-sufficient -

THE SQUAREBASE

The SquareBase would piece together several SquareHabs produced from local materials into a complete base able to support itself.

The design of the SquareBase takes the inflatable modules of the InstaBase and replaces those inflatable modules with the rigid, rectangular modules. In this way, the lessons learned at the InstaBase would be directly applicable to the SquareBase.

As the Earth independent base grew by producing more side-by-side SquareBases, the living area would increase and the level of redundancy would increase as well. If there was a problem in one SquareBase, people could simply pass through the airlock into the neighboring SquareBase.

An Earth-independent population could grow their living space by producing more and more SquareBases.
